FINANCE & OPERATIONS
SOP & Knowledge Base Engineering
Turn scattered business know-how into controlled SOPs, searchable knowledge and safer AI-ready retrieval systems. Build procedures people can execute, sources an assistant can ground to, and maintenance rules that keep both current.
Overview
A governed operating library that humans and AI can use.
The course covers process discovery, evidence capture, executable procedure writing, taxonomy and metadata, retrieval design, prompt-injection resilience, QA, version control and a controlled read-only knowledge-assistant pilot.
- Format
- Self-study, online, at your own pace
What you will learn
The outcomes for this course are set out in the overview and modules on this page.
Modules & lessons
- Module 1
Operating Knowledge Architecture
Separate policy, process, SOP, work instruction, checklist and reference material so authority and purpose stay clear.
- Module 2
Process Discovery & Evidence Capture
Interview operators, observe real work, identify decisions and exceptions, and resolve conflicting sources before drafting.
- Module 3
Write Executable SOPs
Define triggers, owners, prerequisites, observable steps, decision rules, exceptions, escalation, records and completion criteria.
- Module 4
Knowledge Base Structure & Metadata
Design taxonomy, stable document IDs, ownership, confidentiality, review dates and canonical-source rules.
- Module 5
AI-Ready Content & Retrieval
Structure knowledge for retrieval, build gold questions, require source grounding and make uncertainty an expected behaviour.
- Module 6
Security, Privacy & Prompt-Injection Resilience
Apply least privilege, sensitive-data minimization, untrusted-content controls, human approval and rollback boundaries.
- Module 7
QA, Testing & Maintenance
Test normal, ambiguous, conflicting-version and prohibited requests; govern revisions with owners, evidence and retesting.
- Module 8
Build and Launch an AI Knowledge Assistant
Start read-only, limit sources and users, score retrieval quality, capture unanswered questions and expand authority only after evidence.
How self-study works
This is a self-study course. You work through it online, on your own schedule. There are no scheduled classes or live sessions to join.
- Go in order. Each module builds on the one before it.
- Practise as you go. Complete the activities and checks in each module before moving on; they show you what to revisit.
- Keep your work. Save your notes, drafts and evidence in your own document so you can reuse them.
- Get help when you need it. Questions about access or your account go to Student Support.
Assessment & certificate
Build an AI-ready operations library.
Create a controlled mini-library for one real or synthetic business function and prove that both a human operator and a knowledge assistant can use it safely.
- Five-process inventory plus three complete SOPs.
- One work instruction, one checklist and a governed metadata register.
- Twenty gold questions including conflicting-version, restricted-data and prompt-injection tests.
- Read-only knowledge-assistant pilot or implementation plan with QA scorecard.
- Change-management, review and rollback procedure.
Certificate. Learners who complete the required lessons and exercises, pass the required mastery checkpoints and complete the capstone where applicable can receive an ARQS Course Completion Certificate. ARQS certificates are private professional-development credentials, not government accreditation, professional licensure or externally recognized academic credentials. How ARQS certificates work

Study with ARQSI
ARQSI is the ARQS AI course tutor. This space is reserved for ARQSI, which will help you work through the course one lesson at a time: explaining each idea, setting short practice exercises and checking your understanding before you move on.
Until ARQSI opens here, study the modules on your own and contact Student Support with any questions about access.
Important limits
Credential truth: ARQS Mastery Credits are internal, non-academic learning units. They do not represent college or university credit, licensure, accreditation or government-recognized degree authority.
